Programmable photonics and applications
Description:
As integrated photonic technology matures, programmable photonic circuits are ushering in a new era of flexibility and versatility. Such programmability stems from precisely tunable photonic building blocks, such as thermo-optic and electro-optic phase shifters. Leveraging multiple optical degrees of freedom to enable parallel processing, these structures reshape optical amplitude and phase responses in situ to synthesize arbitrary spectral functions, eliminating the need for hardware re-fabrication. This workshop brings together leading researchers to discuss the state-of-the-art in programmable photonics and its applications, including optical switching for high-density networking in next-generation AI-driven data centers and optical computing architectures that leverage light for ultra-fast matrix operations, neuromorphic processing and physics-inspired computing. Furthermore, we will explore the potential of programmable photonics for on-chip signal processing and optical sensing. This workshop offers an unparalleled opportunity to connect, share breakthroughs, and shape the future of programmable photonics.
